actually, i think i've discovered two issues.. the first is that there are too many soft reboots, remakes and re-imaginings.
don't get me wrong, hollywood has always done remakes and some remakes work very well.
the fly (1986) and the thing (1982) are actually remakes/re-imaginings of the original 50s films.
Good movies are made, try some of the indies. IF you can find one. Catering to the lowest common denominator instead of making movies for certain audiences. You dont have to like my favorites, just as I may not like yours, but that doesn't mean I want all your movies gone

There were children baptized all through the 20's on, so the 18 isn't true. Not saying it shouldn't be, it even should be 21 or 30

I will put some blame on guidance counselors as they think everyone has money and want an office job. I went into trades. I did not have money or way to pioneer even if I wanted to
It did cost me loss of a possible wife as I couldn't support even myself. I did very well a few years later with a different girl and in retrospect am probably better off with second serious girl friend

Usually it takes until around age 15 or so. Puberty and discovering sex drive is number 1, and unhappily drugs or booze. They will indeed be shunned, given no support for maturing.
In spite of being bible based(sarcasm)the local boe may encourage kicking them into street or pawning them off on non jw relatives.
I have known a lot. A few smart alec snots make it all the way to becoming superfine bigwigs pushing their own way without getting caught
